Eating out in Jersey
Jersey is famous for its good food and locally caught seafood including Lobster, crab oysters, plaice and sea-bass landed daily at St Helier are specialities. A local but now rare, shellfish delicacy the ormer is only found in Channel Island waters. Also enjoy locally grown vegetables, particularly the famous Jersey Royal potato in springtime. There are many excellent restaurants, bistros, hotel bars and coffee shops cafes throughout the island. In May of each year, Jersey hosts the International Food Festival with top judges and food writers in the island. This is a particularly good time to try out the best of food that jersey has to offer - see the jersey tourism website www.jersey.com/food .The French influence is still very evident. In July the Irish Festival is held and in August the Portugese Food Festival.
