2001 Census Results - 24 Jan 02 The Population rose 1.9% in five years to 59,807 according to the April 2001 Census results just released. It had been thought that overheating in the job market would take it above the long held threshold of 60,000. In 10 years, the population has also grown by a small percentage from 58,867 in 1991£120m on new schools - 25 Apr 2002. The States of Guernsey approved plans for a major new investment programme for the island's secondary schools. The States also approved £18m for a new airport terminal to be ready by Summer 2003.
New airport terminal - Aug 2002 Work has started on the £20m new airport terminal building to replace the one originally built before the 2nd world war. It is expected to be completed by summer 2004.
