9 Oct 00- Cooperation between Jersey, Guernsey
and Isle of Man is likely to ever closer in the next few years. In a
meeting organised by the Institute of Bankers in Guernsey, Senator Walker
commented 'We are in the international spotlight and there are predators.
If one of the three moves out of kilter with the other two and gets picked
off in some way, the other two become vulnerable. Provide a solid united
front and we are in a stronger position. Divided we fall' he said. The
meeting concentrated on possible threats posed by the OECD and EU
legislation on tax harmonisation. |

needed between the islands, Senator Frank Walker, Finance & Economics
President, said " We are moving and working much more closely
together and the idea of some kind of Federation has real advantages"
He went on to say " Creating a Federation would be a major political
change and would involve dealing with with the legacy of centuries of
history and tradition .. but I accept that challenge" |
