The picture shows retiring Swimarathon President ~ Harry Bisson OBE with Scuba the Swimarathon mascot & other members of the 2001 Swimarathon Committee at Stampers Store, L'Islet trying to purchase tickets for the " Big Splash " featuring Atomic Kitten & Blue.
The event was kindly sponsored by Checkers to mark 25 years of Guernsey Swimarathon which is the largest fund-raising event in Guernsey having raised in excess of £750k.
The monies raised by Swimarathon are distributed by the two organising clubs being The Lions Club of Guernsey & Guernsey Round Table & are utilized to assist with numerous welfare projects within the Bailiwick.
The actual concert was sell out !
Guernsey Swimarathon wishes to acknowledge & thank Checkers for the £5000.00 donation to their 25th Anniversary fund.
In addition, a BIG thank you also goes to Swimarathon main sponsor ~ Barras Car Centre (Hyundai), Island FM, Bucktrouts, & of course all swimmers & their sponsors.

Guernsey Swimarathon is now looking forward to their 26th event which will be held on Friday 11th October to Sunday 13th October 2002 @ Beau Sejour .
The official opening will take place at 2.00pm on Friday 11th October in the presence of His Excellency the Lieutenant-Governor of Guernsey ~ Sir John Foley & Lady Foley. The official prize-giving Vin D'honneur will be held on Thursday 17th October 2002 at a venue still to be decided.
